On Inisheer, on the beach of Carraig na Finise, lies the wreck of the MV Plassey. The ship was on 8 March 1960 went in a storm off the island due and purged later on the rocky beach of Inisheer. The eleven crew members were rescued, abandoned freighter. He has since rusted above the high water mark to himself. The Plassey in Ireland is a national celebrity:
